The United States Coast Guard Standard Flag is A white rectangular flag with the dark blue Great Seal of the United States centered on the field. The seal features an eagle with a shield on its breast, containing vertical red and white stripes topped with a blue chief. Inscribed above the eagle is United States Coast Guard in dark blue. Below the eagle, in the same color, are the Coast Guard motto Semper Paratus (“Always Ready”) and the year “1790” (the founding year of the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service, the Coast Guard’s predecessor).
