Description
Indiana was added to the Union in 1816, the 19th state to join. The flag shown here was adopted in 1917. The torch represents enlightenment and forward thinking. There are eighteen stars with a larger star, representing Indiana, at the crown of the torch; these stand for the states which had joined the Union at the time of Indiana’s induction.
