Description
Minnesota was added to the Union in 1858, the 32nd state to join. The flag shown here was adopted in 1957. The seal in the center displays a Native American and a settler negotiating over the land. The motto, which reads “L’Etoile du Nord” (the North Star), indicates Minnesota’s northern position in the continental U.S.
